Chapter 21

Lina grabbed her hand. “Come, quick,” she whispered, pulling Ashlyn along with her.

“What’s going—?”

“Shhhh…quick,” she whispered, leading Ashlyn to a part of the cave castle she had never been before. They walked for a few minutes in silence.

Lina walked fast. She looked around them as they reached the end of a dark hallway and then pushed Ashlyn into a room. Inside the significant space was a large, steaming tub made from bronze or copper. “Take off.” She tugged on Ashlyn’s clothing.

“What’s going on?” Ash asked as she allowed Lina to pull her shirt over her head. Ashlyn tugged her skirt down, letting it drop at her feet. Then she removed the leather bracelets from her wrists.

“In…in get.” Lina touched the side of the tub.

Ashlyn could smell the oils; they were even more pungent than before. She climbed into the warm water, hissing as she lowered herself. Ashlyn leaned back, feeling her muscles relax, feeling the slight soreness between her legs ease. She groaned. This was bliss.

“You vork your comme.” Lina smiled. She still spoke under her breath. “You have good night?” She beamed.

“No, no, no! First, tell me what’s going on. Why am I here in an unused part of the castle? Why all the silence?”

“Puk angry. Shouting. Breaking everything. Must wash scent sex off body.”

“Surely he knew that I chose Avalanche.” She frowned.

“Sik, but not that you sex,” she said in her broken English. “He hear you.” Lina giggled. “All hear you. Must be good. Comme good.”

“Oh, crap.” Ashlyn sat up. “I was right, then. It will be worse for Avalanche. Puk is mad.”

“Nik. Fidd keep eye. No one hurt elaar wukaar. He safe. Puk make sure. But Puk angry. I never see like this.” She giggled. “This is most fun I have…ever.”

“I suppose life can be pretty dull down here. Although, you’re a woman…a pumme. Surely you are very busy dating all the males? Why aren’t you a prize? You are beautiful, Lina.”

The woman had silvery eyes with a gorgeous blue tinge to them. Her hair was long and black, all the way down her back. Her breasts were firm. She had a great figure…toned legs that went on for freaking miles. A human guy would give both his arms for a night with a beauty like Lina. Not to mention how sweet she was, too. This lovely lady was the whole package.

The other woman got a sad look. “Lina no layiza.” She touched her belly. “No tifleer.”

“No baby,” Ashlyn said.

“No baby. Can’t baby.” She touched her belly again. “Males no want. Take khimle.” Khimle meaning humans. She’d noticed they didn’t have many women in the tribe. That’s why they needed humans. To procreate. She supposed it made sense. They needed a couple of lessons on how to go about it, though. Abduction was not the way to a woman’s heart.

“That’s sad, Lina. I’m sorry. Can I ask you something?”

Lina nodded. “Sik.”

“Do you have feelings for Puk? Do you love him?” Ashlyn touched her chest where her heart was.
